In Bavaria one of the oldest cracknel in the world is found

Автор: 17.03.2015 | Germany, history
During archaeological excavations in Bavaria, it is found a cracknel age of which is nearly 250 years. As The Local reports, researchers bumped into bakery good in the district of Regensburg city.

The spokesperson of Bavarian Bureau on reservation of the objects of history and culture Silvia Codreanau-Windauer claimed that the cracknel was obviously the oldest among ones ever been found. As well, she outlined that baked food had been lying buried for several centuries because the baker, probably, had tried to burn cracknel immediately after stoving.

The edition mentions that along with cracknel the remains of cake and croissants having prepared in XVIII century have been found.

The cracknel is considered as traditional North-European bakery food. Upon the legend, the baking has its shape because of monks once baking bread and giving to it the form of arms crossed on breast so as to pray. The most widespread ones in Germany are salty cracknels eaten with sausages and mustard. However, for the holidays, for example, by New Year or Palm Sunday the sweet cracknels are baked.
