Because of heat France is to lose the part of Beaujolais

Автор: 19.08.2015 | France
This year French wine-makers expect low-quality grape of Gamay sort which is to produce Beaujolais wine.

Because of heavy draught continuing for the whole July grape fruits could not grow till sufficient sizes as 20minutes.fr edition refers to the words of counselor of agricultural board of Rona department Florence Arto.

The similar situation happens with the vineyards in another wine region of France – Burgundy. «The lack of moisture affects process of fruit ripening badly», as representative of interprofessional bureau of Burgundian wines BIVB Kristin Monani. According to her, in the nearest future due to the starting rains fruits will ripe, however, in any case they are not going to reach basic size.

Nevertheless, according to the experts’ estimations, draught will not make an influence on the quality of wine made from the harvest gathered this year. Because of the draught vineyards avoided illnesses quickly spreading in the conditions of moisture.

The date of grape collection in Beaujolais will become known in the nearest days, in Burgundy the harvest is to start at the end of August.

Totally, nearly 70 departments of France suffered this summer because of the strongest heat continuing for the whole July.
