The wine fountain, or ‘fontana del vino’ situated in the city Caldaridi Ortona in Abruzzo along the popular travel route ‘The way of saint Thomas’ (Cammino di San Tommaso).
The thousands of pilgrims and tourists come the way from Rome to Ortona so as to visit the city basilica where the remains of Thomas, one of twelve apostles of Jesus Christ are saved. It is a common project of the local wine-maker and non-commercial organization that supports and maintain pilgrim track.
The inspiration has been taken from the concept of similar fountain established in Spain at the way of Saint Santiago several years ago.
