Polish shops will stop working on Sundays

Автор: 05.02.2018 | Poland
In Polish since the 1-st of March the trade on Sundays will have been limited.

The President of Poland Andrzej Duda signed a legislative act which limits work of Polish shops on Sundays. Since the 1-st of March the shops in Poland will be ale to work only two Sundays a month. In 2019 they will get permission to have a trade only on Sunday a month. Since 2020 the trade on Sundays will be absolutely forbidden, except for seven days in a year.

It is expected that the legislative act will cause the indignation from the side of Western commercial networks. The significant part of their income is at the weekends when many people go shopping all the day long.

The President considers that the legislative act will make a good impact on the family life of shops employers. He asked the owners of big business to understand the new system. As he told, the legislative act should ‘renew normality’. Duda emphasized that such rules function in other European countries, including Germany and Austria.

The exception from rules will be made for the small family shops, chemistries, kiosks, filling stations, flower and hotel shops, and veterinary clinics.
