Wine marathon in Medoc

The marathon which starts at these days in French city Medoc became so popular that only part of people game for participation could compete – there are 8.5 thousand from 17 thousand of potential entrants.

The competition is not for professional sportsmen. The purpose to be achieved by the participants of marathon in Medoc does not mean to be the first who run back. Keep in mind that exciting marathon is dedicated to the wine, wine and only wine.

The marathon starts in Pauillac, which is not far away from Bordo. The participants (many of them arrive from abroad) have to visit almost 60 ancient castles during their route, and in every building runners try delicious wine. On the way such batter as fruits and raisins is available. There are several rest stations where you can refresh yourself with grilled meat, oysters, and cheese. Musicians greet all participants with the songs of praise. In order to take part in the festival, you have to plunk down for registration and receive doctor's permission. However, efforts and costs will pay off with spades. The slogan of Medoc festival sounds as «health, sports, feast and entertainment». The last word is emphasized – the form of attendance request is drawn up so as to refine too serious, unfriendly, nervous people or miserabilists. Of course, everybody may attend the holiday of grape harvesting which comes after the marathon.

Inevitably, the main thing is not victory but participation. Unfortunately, during the marathon many runners enjoy flight testing so much that do not only confine themselves in six and a half hours but even cannot come in at all. Therefore, every person who reaches victorious finish, is awarded with the medal and many presents (including bottle of wine medoc). The quantity of «desertirs» is great because in the evening before the marathon people should eat to repletion.
