International Childhood Cancer Day

Автор: 15.02.2015 | science
Childhood cancer day many countries celebrate annually on the 15-th of February. This date firstly appeared in the calendar in 2001, upon an initiative of International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organization (ICCCPO).

The first International day was held on the 15-th of January in Luxemburg, however, later organizers decided to move up a date a month ahead. Today Childhood Cancer Day is arranged In more than 40 countries under the aegis of International Society for Pediatric Oncology. The relevance of problem to which current activity is dedicated, unfortunately, is increasing. According to the medical statistics, annually in the world more than 200 thousand children suffer from cancer, a half of them dies. The formula to successful treatment of oncological diseases is considered to be an urgent diagnostics.

If the illness is discovered at the first or second stages, healing often leads to the benign outcome. However, the tenth part of cancer cases is revealed only at the third state, and eight percent of children are detected concerning this illness only at the fourth state. The toughness is in fact that there are many forms of oncology – approximately 200 ones, and disease may start almost in each organ. Children are often involved with leukemia, or blood cancer. IN developed countries where doctors obtain all the necessary diagnostic equipment, currently three from four cancer-suffering children recover. Talking about emerging nations, the converse is true. It is verily in such states there are 80% of children with cancerous diseases.
