Luxembourg has taken over European Union

The country intends to draw attention of European Union to the seven topics the first among which is the debt crisis in Greece, as DW reports.

As well, the stimulation of economical growth and employment, climate protection, mass influx of irregular migrants to Europe, domestic market and foreign political role of European Union are to be studied.

The next issue put forward by Luxembourg is taxation policy. Over a number of years, this country had been providing enterprises with the tax loophole: publicity was given to the story because of the LuxLeaks scandal. Luxembourg made agreements with the hundreds of European and American companies giving them taxation conditions considered as more profitable, and granting additional income to the dukedom. Instead of the usual company income tax, in Luxembourg in 28,5% cases participants of similar agreements paid only 2%.

The presidency in European Union came to Luxembourg from Latvia. Since the 1-st of January, 2016, the position of European Union Presidency will have been given to Netherlands.

Great Duchy being one of the states-founders of European Union staggered elections implements the stated function the twelfth time.

The contacts of Luxembourg with Brussels are quite close: Jean-Claude Juncker who has been taking the position of Prime Minister of Luxembourg for many years has headed European Commission since November, 2014.
