Planet of solar system is named as a tribute to Tajikistan

As Rahimi told, Tajikistan is situated between orbits of Mars and Jove at the distance of 250 million kilometers from the Sun. The complete circuit around the celestial body the sphere has been making for five years. Currently a minor planet is situated at a short distance from the Earth – it allows investigating its physical and chemical peculiarities for Tajik scientists.

During the peace lesson Rahmon marked the results of work of astrophysicists in Tajikistan. The valuable achievements requires from our scientists more efforts on behalf of state and nation, as well as the entire humanity», — the president told.

In honour of Tajik scientists five bodies of solar system are named. Among them there is a comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The heaven body got its name after surnames of people discovering it in 1969 – worker of republic Institute of astrophysics Svetlana Gerasimenko and her Ukrainian colleague Klim Churyumov.

In November 2014 on the surface of this comet from the maternal vehicle Rosetta descent module Phliae was set out. It was the first in the history soft landing of descent module on the comet nucleus. The mission of Rosetta is coordinated by the European Space Agency, as well as NASA. The information received with the help of Rosetta is indispensable for explanation of evolutional processes in solar system and appearance of the water on the Earth.
