Day of May Revolution in Argentina
In 1810 the country survived a coup d’état which resulted in fall of Spanish rule in the state, and the junta came to power, that was the first independent government formed only of the Argentinians.
The main celebrations take place in Buenos Aires, millions of people invade the city streets. It begins with a costumed parade during which soldiers recreate the events of 1810. Also, there one can see ladies dressed in luxurious outfits of the 19th century and men in suits of northern Indian tribes. Having covered two thousand kilometres, thousands of indigenous people from the provinces of Catamarca, Neuquen, Chaco and many others come to see event.
Events dedicated to the holiday are so manifold that a whole day is not enough to visit each of them. In the evenings the central streets of the capital get lighten up by laser show, there one can enjoy performances of contemporary theatre and ballet stars, classical music concerts, fashion shows. At every step exquisite dancers blend into the rhythm of the famous Argentine tango.
