The authorities of Turkish resort city Kuşadası sank in Aegean Sea the plane Airbus A300 to create the artificial cays. The fifty-four-meter liner with the wing span in forty-four meters became the biggest object used for creation of artificial cays. The plane costs 270 thousand Turkish liras (nearly 91.5 thousand dollars).

The operation of flooding has lasted for 2.5 hours. To immerse the liner in the water, they used a special equipment, and the process was controlled by professional divers,

‘The purpose of this project is to increase the variety of sea world near Kuşadası and the development of diving in the city’, the head of ili (region) Aydın Özlem Çerçioğlu claimed.

The authorities are waiting for the involvement of at least nearly 250 thousand foreign and Turkish tourists per a year attracted by the artificial cay. As it is noted, the local tourist industry will have fewer losses this year with new cay.

Airbus A300 is not the first plane sank in Turkey for attraction of divers. Earlier in the country with the help of small-capacity liners three artificial cays were created including the one near the banks of Antalya.
