In Kenya the unique white giraffes firstly appeared on the video

For the first time the rangers of Kenya conservation park saw white giraffes in the course of program on the saving of hirola (the mammal from the subfamily Beatragus, the second name is Beatragus hunteri).

In the video, if we judge the size, there are female giraffe and child of snow-white color. As National Geographic is convinced, the reason for the rare color is not albinism but leucism, the rare kind of genetic mutation. In this case, the animal has eyes of classic color, but albinos do not have a color of iris.

Fortunately, the mutation does not influence the life capacities of the animals; however, it attracts extreme attention to them depriving them of the natural protective color. Due to such reasons, there have already been taken measures on the protection of newly found animals from the threats from the side of other animals and poachers.

Let us note that the white tigers and snow leopard are not considered to be the carrier of either leucism or albinism because they have varying color. Luckily, the latest has been recently moved from the category of ‘endangered breed’ into the status of ‘vulnerable’ animals. At the moment, International Union of Nature Protection counts their number as less than eight thousand individuals.
