Grodno will get a water taxi soon. It is expected that the first ships "with checkers" will go on the Neman in May this year.
To fulfil the plan, the city will need a berth. On behalf of the UZHREP in Leninsky district it will be built on the right bank of the Nemun between the Old Bridge and the Grodno castles. This berth will not be the only one: on the opposite bank of the Neman near the recreation center a modern complex will be built for tourist ships, where one could moor to rest, charge the batteries, and replenish the water supplies.
This year the authorities of Grodno also plan to take up the modernization of the rescue station "Tsentralnaya", which was built at the end of the XIX century. They want to renovate the building, beautify the adjacent beach and strengthen the pier, which will also be accessible to tourists traveling on the water.
