In Northern Korea, the resort for foreigners is to open
The special leisure area Mubon will be established not far away from the highest peak in the country – Paektu Mountain. The appropriate order was released by the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
As the Agency of Southern Korea «Renhap» states, the experts explain the necessity of new tourist area in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea by the authorities’ desire to bring the foreign currency in the country.
The first leisure area for foreigners in the country was opened near Mountain Kumgang in 1998. In 2008, Southern Korea forbade the resort visit for its citizens. It happened after the case when Northern Korean soldier shot the tourist who walking along the beach wandered in the no-go zone.
Would-be active volcano Paektu is located at the border between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and China. The mountain the height of which makes up 2774 meters is considered as the highest point of Manchurian-Korean Mountains. In 1979, the international biosphere reserve was launched.
