Scottish island hit by the first crime in 50 years

It is the first time in 50 years when the crime has been committed on Scottish island Canna. As STV News reports, the thieves who broke into the shop at night, 12 June, took six hats, as well as sweets, candy bars, coffee, and cookies.

The representative of the Isle of Canna Community Development Trust claimed that they have to embark on extreme measures so as to prevent other stealings in Canna.

«This means we will have to lock the door of the shop overnight now. We left it open specifically to welcome fisherman

in to use the Wi-Fi and buy anything they needed while resting in at our pier overnight», - the spokesperson of the community declared.

It is stated that the on the island previous crime happened in 1960. Then a wooden plate was stolen.

There is not any police departments on island Canna which is situated in 40 kilometers from Northwestern coast of Scotland. Nearly 30 people reside there. On the island, there is a farm with 50 cows, as well.

In 2013, The Times reported that local citizens complained of destructive activity of rabbits. At that time, approximately 16 thousand animals pierced a great deal of holts causing the landslide that blocked up the only road on the island for three days. Besides that, rabbits used to dig graves, destroyed building footings, and spoilt monuments of archaeology.
