Clocks on Big Ben gathered speed by six seconds
156-year-old clocks considered as one of the most accurate timekeepers started going quicker and during fourteen days made citizens of London to be conned, as Business Insider reports. The wrong sound of legendary Big Ben was firstly noticed by the workers of broadcasting station BBC Radio 4.
According to the information of one of the watchmakers, with aging clocks became too quick tempered. The experts implied that they have not found the reason of clocks breakage yet, adding that revisions of dial-works are held regularly by well-qualified specialists.
«This is a mechanical clock. It’s not digital, it’s not electronic. It does take a lot of love and care. The mechanism can be affected by weather, atmospheric pressure, and, certainly, their age. Imagine running your car for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for the last 156 years», Steven Jaggs, the keeper of the clock, told.
