English pubs are getting equal to landmarks
The famous English pubs built in a time period between two wars have been listed as the protected constructions recently.
British people have pondered the issue of their pubs’ preservation. In the golden age of these establishments in 1980-s within the territory of the country there were 69000 bars. Nowadays English people get by with 48000 places. The pubs are closed and even susceptible to damage.
So as not to lose a part of the most fetching buildings, the agency on the protection of architectural heritage «Historic England» gave the status of historical monument to nineteen English pubs. The main criteria of selection was the fact that all the public places have been built in a period between two world wars.
French edition «Le Figaro» marks that in whole pubs which have acquired a new status are located in a capital of the country – London.
