Kyrgyzstan Library Day

This date was proclaimed in honour of opening of the first public storage of books in 1902.

Today 1041 libraries work in Kyrgyzstan, which are visited annually by a million of readers.

Despite the fact that the popularity of cultural and educational institutions is not particularly high in the Internet era, the librarians are trying to attract attention of children and young people with all sorts of activities and events.  So, traditionally on May 27 most libraries hold Welcome Day. Lectures on literature are delivered in schools and universities.
