The festival of trumpeters in Serbia

A small Serbian town Guca is well-known for the passion of its citizens to the trumpet. This instrument is used to play for ony occasions starting from the birth of child and ending with funerals. Certainly, music here is quite different but trumpets always sound the same.

Apart from love to trumpet, Guca is famous for the only in the world Assembly of trumpeters which annually arranges a special event such as Festival of trumpeters (Dragačevski sabor trubača). For the first time the festival happened in 1961 and for this time it became well-known in the entire world. According to the version of international magazine National Geographic, it is one among ten most exciting events of the planet in August. In 2005, the festival appeared in a plot of a documentary film. Does not it speak for the fact festival has to be visited?

For three days Guca becomes a capital of all the trumpeters in the world. Here the orchestras from many countries come to capture the possibility to acquire the prize 'Golden trumpet'. As well, the competitions are arranged among the exact musicians, the best one is chosen here. All the day and night the trumpets sound and people have a lot of fun.

So as to recover after the jam-packed day and night only local cuisine helps. The chiefs of Serbian cafes cook their firm dishes such as fried sour cabbage, boiled beans, grilled lamb, hot bread. There a lot of alcohol, as well. People here drink brandy, prune brandy, and wine.

The travel to Guca is, definitely, one of the most unforgettable events. Here tourists from various countries, and for three days the town with the population of nearly two thousand people hosts almost half a million people! The festival in Guca is incredibly noisy holiday where one forgets about problems, troubles, and difficulties.
