At British TV the popular shows are to be monitored

Project Diamond collects information compiling gender analysis of all the TV programs of Great Britain. Particularly, all the employers of TV channels will be asked about their gender identity, physical disabilities, age, and sexual orientation. All the data is promised to be shown in the view of statistics saving anonymity of experiment participants. The number of programs which British television is to analyze in the course of the new project includes TV series EastEnders and Coronation Street.

The project has been launched by the organization Creative Diversity Network (CDN) which cares for the public reputation of television. Two years ago the community started speaking that television has a pleasant attitude only to the representatives of British nationality while it is quite hard to appear in front of the camera for black, Asians and other national minorities. Project Diamond evolved so as to check if the social reproaches are impartial. During the following six months it is planned to analyze conditions of drama performances, entertaining programs, and factual shows. The next year Project Diamond will pay attention to the sport programs and news.

The executive director of CDN Amanda Ariss claims that project does not have enough resources to revise all the TV shows; however, it is worth doing with the programs that have gained the greatest popularity. As Ariss said, the stated investigation will help to create the accurate picture of the modern television: ‘This is a big tool to help us speed up diversity and do it better.
