In Black sea the cemetery of ancient ships has been found

The expedition of Black sea project of underwater archaeology has found out at the bottom of Black Sea more than forty excellently saved ships of Ottoman and Byzantine empires, as Daily Mail reports.

The archaeologists used two machines with the distant managing for shooting and scanning sea bottom at the depth of 1.8 thousand meters. One of them made 3D shots in the high resolution while the second carried projectors, laser scanners and cameras as well as gathered information about the local place.

‘The main task of our project was arrangement of geophysical investigations for the definition of the places of ships burial and collect data which could tell us a bit about the history of Black Sea’, as the head of expedition, the professor John Adams.

The investigators got the details of broken ships and shot their skeletons. The archaeologists noticed that, due to the low content of oxygen the ships referring to antique epoch saved themselves in excellent conditions. The searches are held in compliance with the map of ancient routs that connected Byzantium with the neighboring states.
