New Zealand is recognized as the most prosperous country in the world
Norway which during seven years had been leading in top-list Legatum came down to the second place. It conceded to New Zealand according to all the criteria, apart from the level of education, safety and ecology. Finland took the third place. This country was recognized as the best for efficiency of the power, level of democracy growth, and guarantees of the law supremacy.
Switzerland that takes a leadership in the area of education obtained the fourth place in the ranking of prosperity. Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Denmark followed it. Great Britain which a year ago was at the fifteenth place, improved its indicators and now encircles the first dozen.
Russia appeared at the 95-th place of the ranking of the prosperity with one of the worst results in the area of private freedoms, under which Legatum Institute understands the protection of rights and freedoms of the citizens of the country as well as tolerance reflected by the society.
While compiling the ranking Legatum Institute takes into account 104 factors featuring the prosperity of 149 countries. Their number includes not only gross domestic product per capita, the level of employment and other economic indicators, as well as the number of mobile phones, the child mortality level, citizens’ faith in the honesty of elections and other data allowing to make statements about the situation in the country.
