Having lived through the flow of travelers for Easter, the authorities of Venice started talking about the need to limit the access of non-night tourists to the city. If there is no possibility of not letting them, then they will be charged for the visit.
With such an initiative, Mayor of Venice Luigi Bruniaro, after on Easter Sunday about 125,000 people arrived in the city. In the meantime, on Easter Monday this indicator came to the figure of 95 000 people. All the aforementioned caused a real pandemonium in the narrow streets of the city, long lines in popular attractions and discontent of local residents.
According to the mayor, Venice should be the first in Italy to begin monitoring the number of travelers. Technically not to let tourists into the city, which come, for example, on trains and trains - it is impossible. But the cost of the ticket can include a special tax that would compensate for the "potential harm" from the arriving tourist. Or to introduce a fee from travelers who come to Venice for a day excursion - both in tourist groups on buses and on their own, by private transport. This proposal has already been put under consideration by the Italian government.
