New York Marathon

More than 40 thousand of participants accompanied with dozens of thousands of relatives and mates arrive at Staten Island.

In five city districts, nearly two millions of spectators try to bag the best seats, and hundreds of pubs and cafés are opened earlier to fed viewer excitement with the doughnuts and coffee. Giant screens air events from key points, so you may keep a wary eye on the race at all steps. The first two hours become the time of elite, the best runners of the world, super-athletes of prominent talent and power. Afterwards there is time for fun – screens reflect thousands of dramatic moments of «funny runners» attired in ridiculous costumes, running alone or with team. Their purpose is to overcome all difficulties to collect for charity as much as possible.

Trace is along the famous route: over the bridge Verrazano Narrows, through Brookline and Queens with their outstanding views at Empire-State-Building and skyscraper «Chrysler» at the bank of East-River, after that at the 15-th mile the trace turns and crosses the bridge Queensborough. When participants reach Manhattan, they are welcomed by the roar of spectators.

It is one of the best places intended for observation of competition: herewith you may quickly reach the finish near the restaurant «Tavern-on-the-green» in Central Park.
