Автор: 30.10.2017
The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbev signed the agreement on the events of Kazakh language translation from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet till 2025.

The order approved a new alphabet of Kazakh language based on Latin graphics. It contains 32 letters, while those from the old alphabet are replaced on the basis of their phonetic similarity. Also new alphabet includes nine letters with apostrophes that mean, for instance, hushing sounds (old ‘sh’ will be changed into appropriate ‘s’).

Nazarbaev ordered the government of the country to create National commission with the main task to translate alphabet step by step. Till 2025 Kazakh language will have been translated to Latin graphics.

‘The control of this Order coming into effort is the responsibility of Kazakhstan Republic President Administration’, as it goes in the statement.

In April it was the first time when the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev claimed the intention to have translated Kazakh language from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet till 2025. He explained that by ‘political reasons’. The books, documents and periodicals should be translated in a compulsory way.
