National tree planting day in Iran

Автор: 05.03.2018 | Iran
Iran, along with other countries, annually celebrates the National Tree Planting Day, on the 5-th of March.

Iran is a country with an arid climate, so the issues of planting greenery of settlements, as well as conservation and enhancement of forest resources here are quite acute. Most forests are concentrated in mountainous areas in the north and north-east of the country.

In the middle of the twentieth century, Iranian forests suffered great damage due to uncontrolled cutting and unsystematic forest management. Over the past decades, the Government of Iran has been actively pursuing measures to protect forests and improve forest management, and the National Tree Planting Day was established as part of these activities. Its task is to draw public attention to the importance of protecting forests.

The national tree planting day in Iran opens the annual Natural Resources Week. During this week, special classes are held in Iranian schools, where children are told about the importance of the country's natural resources and their protection. The Government of Iran organizes tree planting activities and provides distribution of free seedlings so that as many people as possible can participate.
