It is difficult to imagine that such an impressive design as a waterfall can stop, especially when it comes to the largest representative of this geographical structure - Niagara Falls.

However, wonders happen: on the 29-th of March, 1848, the legendary cascade froze for more than 30 hours. The reason for this was the huge ice jams formed in Lake Erie, from where the Niagara River originates.

The local resident noticed the breakage of the sight, surprised by the mysterious silence, he even thought about the end of the world. The man approached the river and discovered that it had turned into a thin stream that could be crossed on foot. Rising upstream, he saw that the source was blocked by ice blocks. Frozen platinum managed to be pierced only after a day, and after that the river again rushed along the usual route for it.

Another unique case occurred on the 10-th of January this year due to the 20-degree frosts that hit North America, Niagara Falls froze. Its streams turned into giant icicles, and between the two banks in some places formed a kind of ice bridges, however, completely it did not freeze.
