France obliges children to attend school from the age of three

Автор: 03.04.2018
Children in France will start going to school being three years old instead of six according to the new reformations announced by President Emmanuel Macron.

French President Emmanuel Macron, giving a speech at a meeting in Paris on national schooling, announced that starting in September 2019, French children will start compulsory going to school from three years on.

"This decision reflects the president's desire to make the school a place of true equality and a recognition that preschools should no longer be perceived solely as preparation for an elementary school. Instead, they must be a real school that emphasizes the acquisition of language skills and the development of the child, "the spokesperson from Elysee Palace explained.

Currently, in France for children, school attendance is mandatory from the age of six. Since 1989, parents have got a legal right to give the child to pre-school institutions from the age of three.
