Birthday of Princess Benedikte in Denmark

The 29-th of April in Denmark is celebrated as the birthday of Princess Benedikte Danish, younger sister of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Like the rest of the birthdays of members of the royal family, it is not an official weekend, but, nevertheless, is included in the number of holidays.

Benedicta Astrid Ingeborga Ingrid (Princess Benedict of Denmark, after marriage - Princess Sein-Witgeshtein-Berleburgh) was born on the 29-th of April, 1944. She is the second daughter of King Frederick IX and Queen Ingrid of Sweden, who at the time of her birth were still Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark.

On the 3-td of February, 1968, Benedikta married Richard, the 6th Prince of Sain-Witgeshtein-Berleburgh. In the marriage three children were born: Gustav Frederic Philip Richard, Alexandra Rosemary Ingrid Benedicta and Margaret Natalie Xenia Benedicta. Children do not participate in the inheritance of the Danish throne, as they did not grow up in Denmark, which was an obligatory condition for including them in the number of heirs.

Princess Benedict is the eleventh in order of succession to the Danish throne. She often represents her older sister in formal and semi-official events. She also takes an active part in the life of the girls' scout organizations both in Denmark and abroad.
