Day of Akhalteke horse in Turkmenistan

Автор: 30.04.2018
Today in Turkmenistan celebrate the day of the Akhal-Teke horse - the national pride of the state.

In honor of the holiday in the capital of Ashgabat will be held traditional horse racing. More than 20 participants must overcome the marathon in 60 kilometers. However, the winner is not the one who crossed the finish line first, but the one who led the horse to the end of the race without injury, in good condition and the pulse of the horse should not exceed 64 beats per minute.

Akhal-Teke horses were withdrawn in Turkmenistan about 5 thousand years ago. This is the oldest of the cultured breeds and belongs to the number of purebreds, since throughout its history it has not crossed with other breeds. The appearance of these horses fundamentally distinguishes them from others. Akhalteke residents have a fairly large growth, an extremely dry constitution. The skin is thin, and through it easily emerges a network of blood vessels. The hairline is extremely thin, soft and silky; mane is rare and not very long, and often completely absent.

Akhalteke horses are the national treasure of Turkmenistan. Akhalteke's image can be found even on the State Emblem of the country. In 2013, the National Bank of Turkmenistan issued memorable gold and silver coins featuring the famous horse for the holiday.
