Derby in Kentucky is one of the most prestigious events held for two weeks in Lewisville. This is a one-and-one-and-a-quarter-mile race at the Churchill racetrack, in which only purebred horses of three years old are allowed to participate. This is the first phase of the Triple Crown competition in the US.
This event is also known as "The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports", for the average duration of the races themselves, and "Run for Roses", as the winner is given a magnificent blanket of 554 roses.
It is also worth noting that the event includes not only the jumps themselves, but also concerts, fashion shows, parties, balloon racing, parade, wine tasting, etc.
An important moment in holding the event is represented the traditions that have developed over more than a century of history. For example, the official drink of the festival is Mint Julep.
