By the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, the monument "Motherland" in Kiev was decorated with a luxurious wreath of poppies. It is this flower that is a symbol of the memory of those killed in the Second World War.

The tradition of "dressing up" the monument appeared in 2015. The wreath will decorate the head of the monument for several weeks. For poppies will follow the climbers, they will correct flowers that can be deformed due to wind.

This year because of the weather, the mounting of huge flowers on the frame of the monument was delayed.

On the 8-th and 9-th of May, Ukraine, like all over the world, commemorates the Days of Remembrance and Reconciliation commemorating the victims of the Second World War.

These days are dedicated to the memory of more than 80 million people who died in the battles of World War II, who died as a result of Nazi crimes, and to all those who survived and passed through all the circles of the hell of World War II.

Days of remembrance and reconciliation were proclaimed by the decision of the 59th session of the UN General Assembly on the 24-th of November, 2004. Ukraine joined the celebration of this date in 2014.
