Independence Day of Azerbaijan

The Independence Day of Azerbaijan is commemorated at the national level.

Independence of Azerbaijan was announced firstly in 1918. Then the period of independence had not been lasting for a long time: the republic joined USSR. After dissolution of Soviet Union, issue of independence of Azerbaijan was opened again, and at the extraordinary session of Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan it was accepted the Declaration about reconstruction of state independence of the republic.

On the 18-th of October, the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan Republic announced state independence of Azerbaijan and constituted the fundamentals of governmental, political, and economic order of the republic. Nowadays the Independence day of Azerbaijan has become country's holiday.
