In Czech Republic Independence Day is celebrated

On the 28-th of October, annually, Independence Day of Czech Republic is celebrated. This national holiday is dedicated to the anniversary of origin of independent Czechoslovak Republic in 1918.

At that time Czech being the part of Czechoslovak Republic obtained independence from Austro-Hungary, hereafter independence of Czech was announced in 1993.

Czech was united with Slovakia as Czechoslovak Republic after the First World War. On the 28-th of October, 1918, Czech national committee claimed independence from two unified states – Austro-Hungary, thus giving new growth area for republic.

In 1989 in Czechoslovak Republic, Tender Revolution happened which finished the epoch of communist impact existing in the country. Against the background of such events, national conflict between Czech and Slovakia was growing and as a result led to the fact when in summer, 1992, republics agreed to divide Czechoslovak Republic. Since the 1-st of January, 1993, Czech has been subsisted as independent sovereign state.

Despite the fact that it is fair to regard the date of Czech Independence announcement as the verily date of the 1-st of January, 1993, Czech celebrated its Independence Day according to old traditions, and in the evening all inhabitants and guests of Czech usually enjoy colourful fireworks.
