As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic thinks, the concept composed from one word as it is in neighboring Slovakia is more flexible and practical in many areas of usage.
In spite of majority of European countries, the Czech Republic feels lack of official version for alternative denomination of the country, such as English Czechia, German Tchequie or French Cesko.
The new name has been officially approved by the president Miloš Zeman, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, the spokespeople of both chambers, ministers of foreign affairs, and military defense.
‘If there is no necessity in usage of official name, it is recommended to use one-word name’, it is stated in the declamation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
To give international status to the decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic will ask United Nations to include the new name of the country in their databases.
