On December, 21 St. Thomas’s Day is celebrated in the Netherlands. This is how Dutchmen call Thomas the Apostle.
In this short and dark day pupils go to school for the last time before Christmas holidays. It is worth mentioning that the night to December, 22 is also called “two breads night”. It has got its name because bakers manage to produce two bread batches instead of one. Part of “today’s” lot is renowned Christmas pastry in the shape of the star.
