Independence Day of Bangladesh

On March 26th South Asian Republic of Bangladesh celebrates its Independence Day. The day is a memorial to the deaths of nearly three million people who perished in the war for the liberation of their country.
After the collapse of British India in 1947, the country became dependent on Pakistan. Economic, ethnic and cultural differences led to mass riots and the struggle for autonomy in Bangladesh.
On March 26th, 1971 the newly elected government of the country declared its independence that resulted in war with Pakistan, in which the Bengalis achieved victory owing to active support of India.
Historically, that in the day when a series of formal events are held in the country, the most interesting of which is 31- gun salute conducted in the morning.
