Toronto subway opened
Each day the Toronto subway manages to carry a bit more than a million people, which is quite low compared to other subways in metropolitan cities such as Tokyo, where 8.7 million people descends down each day, Moscow hosting 6.5 million passengers, New York having 5.2 million and Paris with 4 million.
Tickets can be purchased from special collector booths or ticket vending machines, a fare is $ 2.75 and tickets are sold in an amount not less than five.
Some subway stations have specially equipped spots for musicians, though to occupy a place and make some money, a musician has to pass a special audition and get a license. Annually 75 new performers are allowed to work at the subway stations. Most of them are guitarists, but there are also musical instruments such as balalaika, violin, cello, saxophone, mandolin, banjo, bassoon, music box, etc.
