World UFO day
Officially, of course, this date is called the Ufologist Day and is dedicated to those who study the phenomena having no logical explanation, and objects which are attributed to an extra-terrestrial origin.
The date for the international holiday was chosen due to the fact that presumably in late June or early July 1947 a strange object fell down in the desert near the American town of Roswell, New Mexico. It is widely believed that a flying saucer with aliens crashed down there. Since the USA secret agencies coded all the materials of the case, now it is difficult to confirm or refute the hypothesis. However, the event received wide publicity, and the history of ufology started with Roswell UFO incident.
Earthlings today have divided into two camps: those who believe in the existence of fellow human beings, and those who doubt.
Nowadays scientific community has not recognized ufology as a science. Nevertheless, in many countries there are large organizations and UFO research centres, which employ quite reputable scientists. Ufologists can also be divided into two camps: those seeking evidence of extra-terrestrial presence on our planet, and those who seek explanations for these mysterious phenomena trying to expand the frontiers of modern science.
Despite the absence of direct evidence of a UFO crash in Roswell, annually in early July the feast is attended by over 200 thousand people. The town holds the festival featured with seminars, lectures, special exposure and a costume parade of aliens. The festival days in Roswell mark the peak of tourist activity: hotels have no vacant rooms, souvenirs with alien symbols are sold out. Guests are shown four UFO crash site near the town. In general, UFO industry brings annually about 5.2 million dollars profit for the town.
