International Cake Day
Celebration takes place under the motto I CAKE YOU, that means I will come and bring to you a cake. At the root of this sweet celebration was Milanski Club of the Kingdom of Love. It is a community of friends, who are musicians, chefs and other enthusiastic creative minds. This creative union in 2009 established tradition of baking of musical cakes, which was then supported in other countries.
First internationally Cake Day was celebrated on July 20, 2011, under one of the initiatives of the Kingdom of Love (international non-profit project that implements global cultural, humanitarian and peacekeeping initiatives), and it is carried out with the aim of spreading ideas of peace and friendship in the world through culture.
Countries which actively participated in that first Cake Day celebrations in 2011, became the founders of the international holiday, they were Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Israel, the USA. That day was baked the world's first multinational peacekeeping cake. Many people from the said countries partake in the event by posting photos of cakes they baked on holiday web site. Then, the parameters of all cakes were summarized, and the boundaries of the world's first collective peacekeeping cake covered Europe, Asia, America and the Middle East. And since then the Cake Day has become an annual sweet tradition with widening number of participants from other countries.
Today the organizers of the festival are the International Organizing Committee of the Kingdom of Love, with the assistance of national organizing committees, and festival activities are carried out in collaboration with international and national professional organizations, confectioners, NGOs and interested individuals.
Since Cake Day is celebrated not only to glory the favorite sweets, but also as a sign of the strength of friendly ties between the nations, it became an important event in the cultural and social life of different countries.
Each year the festival is dedicated to a specific topic. In 2014 it was named Parade of Planets, since every person, every organization, every country is a separate planet, unique in its kind, so this topic shall allow all participants to show the world their talents and share their good feelings. Anyone, regardless of culinary abilities, age, country of residence and other factors may take part in the festival.
Cake can be not only baked, everyone is welcome to draw, sculpt, knit, or in other way create from any material which turns up by chance.
Among the most popular events is exhibition of the unusual cakes, culinary fair, auction of designer art aprons, confectioners’ competitions, music and confectionery show, cake gala parade, workshops for children and adults on the manufacturing and decorating cakes, various flash mobs.
