In Britain women are allowed to become bishops
As it is expected, the proposal will be confirmed by parliamentarians the next week that would allow it to become laws, according to TASS.
As explained by spiritual head of the Church of England archbiscop of Canterbury Jastin Welbi, appearance of women-bishops has «historical significance». He also expressed his hope that government will introduce legislation before universal elections which happen in May the next year.
«In the last 20 years many women achieved prominent leadership being vicars, archdeacon, and cathedral of deans», - he stated.
In the middle of July General Synod of the Church of England voted for permission to confer orders for women. It is supposed that the first vestiture will happen till the end of the current year – to Christmas.
