In Rio de Janeiro the famous carnival starts

City ministry of tourist accompanied with the League of Samba Schools organizes the carnival, not to mention television companies broadcasting the performance.

Every samba school annually selects the definite topic according to which it decorates its shifting platform and costumes. Then details are prepared alike rhythm, choreography, presentation, concurrence of teamwork, etc. The main part of silk-stocking royal families members (kings, queens, and princesses) and, as usual, women from Brazilian state Bahia (in loose-fitting white suits typical for this state) have been working hard for the whole year to earn money for these costumes.

At the stadium of «Sambodromo» in the district of Estacio 88500 spactators may observe the show. The parades begin at indoor area in length of 700 meters in 9 pm and have been lasting in holiday days for ten hours.

The end of carnival and calculation of participants’ grades are broadcasted at TV-channels throughout the country on the air. Celebration of victory is marked as football superiority of the world with fireworks and feasts of the awarded school.

The preparation for the next year carnival begins just after the parade.

A small museum of carnival in «Sambodromo» which is opened for visitors during the whole year and where the entire personnel speaks English fluently talks about traditions and details of carnival arrangement.

During the carnival, because of tourist flood there is a harsh lack of room in hotels and growth of prices for accommodation. Many Cariocas (citizens of Rio) leave the city at the carnival period so as to have a calm time together with families.
