The best cheese of Spain is announced
The jury called it ‘the true masterpiece’.
A gentle cream, almost liquid texture of the cheese, flavorful taste and unchangeable form in the shape of a little cake (only four centimeters in diameter and 140 grams of weigh) attracted jury of the cheeses contest. It is better to taste La Retorta in a close company, not more than three people, as Espanaruse reported.
Firstly, one should tidily take off the high cover so as not to break it and not to destroy the delicate consistency of the cheese. Then, taking a tea spoon, one should smear it on the sops on the pan. It will also be delicious if one dips the cheese in a cottage bread-stick.
The verily duchess de Romanones confesses that it is her favorite cheese and the only one which she eats among those that are produced in her farm. During eight centuries, from generation to generation, the receipt of La Retorta has been transmitted, and till now this product is produced by hands, following all the traditions. The price of cheese is six euro.
In 2011, La Retorta for the first time received the main prize at World Cheese Awards what could be compared with Oscar for cinematography. Last year the cheese again took the prize and in the current year the duchess de Romanones and her ancestors hope to approve the title of their ‘masterpiece’ at the most prestigious event dedicated to the cheeses that is about to happen in San Sebastian from the 16-th to 18-th of November in the course of Euskaudi-Basque Country International Cheese.
