Portuguese striker of Spanish club Real Cristiano Ronaldo who won the award the previous year, again became the owner of FIFA Golden ball. The awarding ceremony was held in Zurich where the best world footballer of 2014 received the prize.

In the voting of coaches and captains of national teams, as well journalists the 29-year old forwarder was one jump ahead of Argentinian striker of Spanish «Barcelona» Lionel Messi and goalkeeper of German «Bayern» Manuel Neuer.

The last year Ronaldo in the team of «Real» won the Cup of Spain and the Champions League, conquered the UEFA Super Cup, and become the winner of world championship.

After finishing of the season-2013/14 together with Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez became the owner of «Golden Boot» - the award annually given to the best goal scorer of national championship among the countries – members of UEFA. Both players scored 31 balls. Following the results of season -2013/14 Portuguese became the best goal scorer of the championship of Spain (31 balls, 6 ones with penalty) and Champions League (17, 2).

Being a part of national team, Ronaldo unsuccessfully played at the recent world championship held in Brazil – Portuguese could not get out from the group. In three sets, he scored one ball.

Ronaldo received the third «Golden Ball» in his career – he took the first one in 2008 as the player of English «Manchester United». The second time he became the prestigious award happened in 2013.

The award was established in 2010 after union of two exclusive prizes – «Golden Ball» according to the version of edition France Football and «FIFA Year Player».
