Scientists identified personality of Banksy

The real name of artist is Robin Gunningham, as one of the investigators has told. He used to study in one of the state schools of Bristol.

Advocates of Banksy applied to universities with the request to stop the investigation. They worried about the possible consequences of artist’s name publication. Despite the fact that accuracy of investigation is not evident, the acclamation of its results may break into the secret of private life, as the work opponents claim.

In order to identify the personality of Banksy, the scientists have taken the method of geographic profiling used by British criminal law experts to find multiple murderers. They identified the sequence between apparition of new works of Banksy in Bristol and London. They made a scrutiny of the places where 140 pictures ascribed to the artist had appeared.

Largely, pictures appeared in Bristol near of the pubs, playing areas and in the exact residential district. In London the graffiti has been found in three places. With the help of information received by open sources, the scientists figured out that not far away from these places Gunningham used to reside.

In Great Britain graffiti is considered to be a criminal vandalism. The works of Banksy have been sold at the auctions for the amounts reaching up to 700 thousand dollars.

It is believed that Bankly was born in Bristol in 1974 and became keen on graffiti at the end of 1990s. Gradually he was drawing more and more, and it became harder to conceal from police. Then he decided to use patterns for his works so as to spend less time.

In 2008, the newspaper The Daily Mail claimed to have revealed the identity of the artist. Then journalist thought of verily Robin Gunningham about whom now scientists are talking – the main evidence was considered to be the photo of Gunningham with the balloons for graffiti taken at Jamaica. The Daily Mail found a school mate of Gunningham, and he told that mooted Banksy was a very gifted child and draw in an amazing way. As well, it was revealed that for a while Gunningham had been sharing one flat with the artist Luke Egan – later Banksy had put pictures for the purchase together with this personality.
