On July 19 Japan marks the national holiday dedicated to all women who gave their lives to politics.
It was on this day in 1960 when Masa Nakayama became the first woman in Japan who received a ministerial post. She was entrusted to lead the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Since then the day of July 19 is observed in the country.
