«Burning man” is a very rough festival dedicated to survival in extreme conditions and self-expression. During eight days before American holiday the Day of Labour, 40 thousand of participants gather in Black-Rock-city – the temporary town which is rebuilt every year – on the dry salt flat land Black-Rock, state Nevada.
Every person takes with him something he needs to live in this uncooperative terrain. There you won't find shops or even barter system of exchange. Instead of this, you will immerse into a kingdom of “presenting economy” where you give without expectations to receive back. Mainly it means that you have to set free your imagination, and do not take into account which unconceivable forms your fantasy may get.
The submarines “emerge” from the desert sand; nave of cathedral-skeleton lifts its head on the dry land – now it is the place of action for aberration of colourish bodies driving “twist” cars or bicycles with wings. At the immense space, sculpture, music, colours and power of inventions are the source of inspiration for “seeking artists” who cannot be satisfied with frames or limitations. All in all, the frantic self-expression leads to the true aesthetics of event as one strong unit. By the seventh day, “Burning man” disappears in the flame shapes, and for everyone this twelve-metres allegory becomes an implementation of their own old “Self” - people leave the festival feeling renewal.
“Burning man” is not for everyone. It may be dangerous – physically because of conditions of wild desert, and mentally – if you are not ready to bump into changes. However, if you have enough courage to take up challenge, you will face the most breath-taking and overwhelming adventure in your life.
