Near headquarters of United Nations flag of Palestine and Vatican is run up
The appropriate resolution about the rising of flags of United Nations observers which are not members of the organization is accepted on Thursday, on the 10-th of September, by the delegates of the 69-th session of General Assembly.
In the voting the document was supported by 119 states. Eight countries made a stand against the resolution, 45 ones abstained.
In the resolution there is a reminder mentioning that on the 29-th of November, 2012 Palestine became United Nations observer not being the member of organization. Till November, 2012 Palestine had had an observer status in General Assembly, however, in the decision concerning the mentioned reason it had not been told that such a status had been given to it as the state.
The decision will be implemented in twenty days.
Currently in General Assembly there is one more observer – Vatican. On the 25-th of September the headquarters of United Nations will be attended by Pope Francis. He is about to apply to the representatives of the 70-th session of General Assembly and hold a range of bilateral meetings.
State Palestine was announced in 1988. It includes the territories on the Western bank of river Jordan and the Gaza Strip. Palestine is recognized by 135 countries as the state. De facto a significant part of Palestine is under inspection of Israel.
