In Palestine the museum without exhibit-items is opened
The ceremony of museum opening where it was planned to reflect the troubles of life of Palestinian refugees was postponed because of misconceptions between the board of museum management and its former director. As a result of this conflict the director was fired.
The board of management head told that, as it was expected, by the end of year the museum will work in the ordinary course. Away exhibitions reflecting the stories of Palestinians will be organized by the museum in various cities of Middle East. The next week one of such exhibitions will be arranged in Beirut under the name ‘Along stitches: political history of Palestinian embroidery’.
The modern construction surrounded by amphitheater wallows in beautiful gardens not far away from university campus Bir Zeit. When Palestinian museum will open in actual fact, it is planned to arrange exhibitions dedicated to the history of Palestinian nation and its re-settlement as a result of the conflict after the formation of Israel at the end of 1940s.
The central element of the museum will be collections of photos from the private family archives. The head of museum board of management told that do not consider the opening of museum without exhibitions as something ridiculous. ‘We celebrated verily the fact that the building of construction has been finished in time. We are glad to see garden where it is located’, the agency France Press gives a quote of Omar Kattan.
‘For us it was psychologically important to keep the promise and open the museum in time. That is why we decided to open it immediately not waiting for the first exhibition’, he said.
At the ceremony of opening Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas claimed: ‘This museum will show to the whole world that we were here, we are still here and we will remain at this land so as to build out independent state. Nobody could deprive us of this right’. ‘ We have been living here from ancient times’, Abbas added.
