Roman Coliseum has been cleaned of filth and soot in the course of large-scale restoration which has been lasting for three years. All this time the construction has been opened for public, as Associated Press reports.
The first step of building’s restoration finished on Friday, the 1-st of July, required nearly 6.5 million euro. The expenses have been given by the company Tod’s producing shoes of premium class. The firm has responded at the call of Italian authorities to save archaeological monuments of the country.
In total, the company will spend 25 million euro for the project. This money is intended at the center of visitor. Besides that, the underground floor of construction to contain animals is planned to be built.
In June 2015 German archaeologists restored wooden elevator where lions fighting with gladiators have been raised in Coliseum. The scientists using ancient Roman technologies made an elevator moving the cage of capacity of 300 kilos at the height of 7.3 meters.
Coliseum started being built in 72 year AC. The building had been taking for eight years. It was the biggest amphitheater of the whole Antique world. It contained more than 50 thousand people. For citizens of Ancient Rome and visitors Coliseum was the main place of entertainment such as Roman holidays and imitations of sea battles.
