Government of Italian city Verona has approved the idea of building of high rise used as cemetery.
Lack of unoccupied burying land has caused appearance of the project of building of 33-floored building aimed at 24000 graves. In the building there is service of individual burial as well as creation of family repository and chapels.
In the context of architecture multistory building will be the highest one in Verona but will not interrupt its historical prospect.
Italian company Cielo Infinito are ready to implement the project – it has already offered to buy out the land for building for 11,5 mln euro. The area where necropolis is intended to be built is situated on the outskirts of the town.
This project is not the one and only. For example, in Tokyo near Buddhist temple there is six-storey building of cemetery. and in Brazilian city Santos there is the highest in the world graveyard – 32-floored tower Memorial Necrópole Ecumênica.
Similar skyscrapers are planned to build in Jerusalem and Scandinavia (the author of the last project is architect from Norway Martin McSherry).
